Behtar Bharat: NSUI Demands Students’ Rights Commission In Rajasthan

The other two demands: 30 per cent seats for under 30 years in Panchayat and Municipal elections, Block-level youth clubs for care and guidance.

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the youth wing of the Congress party, launched its Behtar Bharat (Better India) campaign on Thursday, January 17 in Rajasthan.

The NSUI placed three specific demands — Students’ Rights Commission; 30 per cent seats for under 30 years in Panchayat and Municipal elections; Block-level youth clubs for care and guidance — in front of the Rajasthan government.

Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot assured the students that the Rajasthan government will bring a proposal for Students’ Rights Commission in the Cabinet and ensured that the Commission will be instituted. “He has also in principle accepted our demand for block-level youth clubs,” the NSUI said.

Pilot also endorsed the students’ demand to ensure youth participation in local body polls for under 30 years. However, he said that the government will first examine how to bring this proposal as per law before taking any action.

Rajasthan Higher Education Minister Bhanwar Singh Bhati was also present at the event in Jaipur.
