Statue of Unity: Lift Carrying BJP’s Sushil Modi Gets Stuck, Twice
Close to Rs. 3,000 Cr has been spent on this vanity project by the Narendra Modi-led BJP government.
An elevator at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat reportedly got stuck on Friday, November 16, while carrying Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and his entourage.
Vice Chairman and CEO of Gujarat Maritime Board Mukesh Kumar told Ahmedabad Mirror, “The incident happened due to overloading. After some persons exited the elevator, it started working. The snag lasted hardly a minute.”
While the elevator started moving once some persons got out, it got stuck again for a whole minute before reaching the viewing gallery, reported ET.
Soon after its inauguration on October 31 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Statue of Unity project, build at a cost of almost Rs 3,000 Crore, was called out for its poor infrastructure.
The elevators had reportedly malfunctioned on the inauguration day as well, as a result of which, around 200 people had gotten stuck at the viewing gallery.
