Rapist Supporter BJP Leader Threatens Journalists With ‘Shujaat-Like Incident’
He allegedly said others may meet the same fate for creating ‘wrong narrative regarding the Kathua rape-and-murder case’.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Chaudhary Lal Singh has allegedly threatened Kashmiri journalists of a “Shujaat Bukhari-like” incident on Friday, a Greater Kashmir report said.
The former Jammu and Kashmir minister had said that others may meet the same fate for creating “a wrong narrative regarding the Kathua rape-and-murder case”.
While addressing a press conference in Jammu, Lal Singh reminded the media about Rising Kashmir editor Bukhari’s gruesome murder. “It’s better to control yourself before the situation gets worse,” he said, adding, “They (journalists) must draw a line so that brotherhood in the state remains intact and we also join the journey of development.”
The BJP leader also said: “Are they waiting for a similar incident that has happened with Basharat (apparently meaning Bukhari).”
Singh was previously in the news for participating in a rally organised by a Hindu outfit, supporting those accused of raping an eight-year-old girl in Kathua. He had also threatened a delegation of Gujjars in 2016, reminding them of a massacre of Muslims in Jammu during 1947.
