Rajasthan: Jaipur Development Authority Set To Miss Important River Project Deadline

JDA is caught between two major projects, Dravyavati and Smart City.

The Jaipur Development Authority and Tata Projects Limited will not complete the Dravyavati River Project on time, a Dainik Bhaskar report said. Under the project, five Sewage Treatment Plants (STP), with a cumulative capacity of 170 megalitres per day (Mld) will be developed, The Times of India report said. It is also supposed to add to the greenery and aesthetics of the place.

The deadline was August 15 which has now been extended to August 30. The authorities cited reasons like unfavourable weather conditions for the slow work progress. Now, many are also doubting whether JDA will meet the extended deadline.

In March, the Tata Projects Limited and JDA had said that the project is on the right track and “70 per cent of the work is done”, according to TOI report.

However, the latest Bhaskar report suggests that JDA did not meet its target of utilising funds up to Rs 120 crore in May and ended up utilising only Rs 84 crore. In the rainy season, the work will get further delayed.

The JDA is caught between two major projects: Dravyavati and the Smart City Project.

The JDA is considering taking a loan for completing the Smart City Project. It is important to note that the Centre is funding the Smart City Mission and it should not be required to take loans from any other government agency.
