Politicisation Of CBI, Its Misuse, Troubling Innocent People...You Will

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in the Opposition before 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he strongly believed that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government was responsible for the “politicisation of CBI” and they misused the agency for “troubling innocent people”. He even accused them of “undermining intelligence systems” several times. Now, Modi has interfered in the functioning of the agency in a manner which has caused immense damage to the independent status of CBI.

Modi intervened in the functioning of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and removed Director Alok Kumar Verma from his post, for initiating probe against the investigating agency’s Special Director, Rakesh Asthana — an official who is close to the prime minister — in the bribery and money laundering case.

Ironically, Modi had repeatedly said that the UPA government was using the CBI when the BJP was in Opposition.
