PM Modi And His ‘Minions’ Threatening Journalists Reporting On Rafale Deal: Rahul Gandhi

Out of 180 countries, India ranks 138th on the World Press Freedom Index 2018.

On Monday, Congress president Rahul Gandhi claimed on his Twitter handle that Prime Minister Modi’s ‘minions’ are issuing threats to the journalists who are actively reporting on the Rafale deal.

Gandhi took to Twitter on Monday and said, “Supreme leader’s minions are now sending threatening messages to journalists reporting on the #RafaleScam asking them to “back off or else…”.

In the same tweet, Gandhi also appreciated the journalists who continue to “stand up against Mr 56”.

The Rafale deal, signed between Indian and France earlier this month, has been in the news since Gandhi raised questions of corruption in the deal.

The BJP government is not revealing the price at which these jets were bought, nor is it explaining how a ten-day-old Reliance Defence Limited owned by Anil Ambani, with a capital of mere Rs. 5,00,000, ended up dealing in a project of this scale.

This is not the first time that such allegations have surfaced.

In April this year, Reuters had reported that journalists who criticise PM Modi were frequently harassed and threatened. Reporters Without Borders has ranked India 138th on the World Press Freedom Index 2018.
