Congress President Rahul Gandhi will personally congratulate ‘shakti’ app users, who have successfully enrolled 50 other members to “Congress-minded families in each booth”, Economic Times reported on Monday. ‘Shakti’ app was launched by the party last month, in an attempt to interact with the party workers and supporters, directly. A majority of Indians in the working-age feel that the world has become more divided in the past three years, with religious differences and nationalist politics being the biggest threats, says a survey. “Nearly 69 per cent millennials in the country say the world is more divided now than it was in 2015. More than five in ten believe it will be more divided by 2030,” a survey conducted by remittances player Western Union said today. Read more here.

The Congress today said the resignation of Chief Economic Adviser Arvind Subramanian has not come as a surprise as all ‘financial experts’ in Modi government are fed up of its ‘colossal economic mismanagement” and are stepping down. Congress communications in-charge Randeep Surjewala cited examples of ex-Niti Aayog vice chairman Arvind Panagariya and former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan in this regard.   • Nitish Raj: Thousands Of Matric Answer Scripts Go “Missing” In Bihar

Thousands of answer scripts of candidates who took Matric examinations, conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) this year, went missing from the strong room of a school where these were kept after evaluation, the BSEB said today. The declaration of results for Matriculation, which was scheduled for tomorrow, has now been deferred to June 26, the BSEB said in a statement released here.   • 100 KGs Drugs Found At BJP Leader’s House: Leader Gets Notice

The GSIDC today issued a show-cause notice to BJP functionary Vasudev Parab from whose industrial premises a huge catch of ketamine was recently seized by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), an official said. The show-cause notice has been issued to Parab seeking his reply within 15 days over why the shed allocated to him should not be taken back by the corporation. Read more here.

  • Haryana: Dalits Sick Of Boycott, Threaten To Convert

A Dalit organisation in Haryana has alleged that people from the community in Hisar district’s Bhatla village are being socially boycotted by members of the upper castes and have threatened to convert to Buddhism. The community has been facing social boycott since July last year, and police officials and members of the village’s ‘Bhaichara Samiti’ (peace committee) have not helped in resolving the issue. Read more here.

  • Nitish Raj: Tribal Woman Beaten To Death For Practising ‘Witchcraft’

A 40-year-old tribal woman was beaten to death allegedly by her extended family on the suspicion of practising witchcraft in Bihar’s Purnea district, police said today. The deceased was identified as Parvati Murmu (40), Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Dhamdaha, Prem Raj Kumar said. Police are conducting raids to nab the culprits, the SDPO said. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray today took a fresh swipe at ally BJP, saying it came to power at the Centre by “spreading lies”. Addressing Sena workers at the 52nd foundation day of the party in suburban Goregaon, Thackeray said the BJP spread “lies” ahead of the 2014 general elections and made false promises to people to win the mandate.
