Model Code Of Conduct Violation: Congress Files Complaint Against Modi Over Mahadayi Issue (Read Complaint)
If the Mahadayi dispute with the Goa government is resolved, Karnataka will be able to divert water from tributaries of the river
The Congress registered a complaint on Monday against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in light of the Supreme Court judgement on the Mahdayi issue.
“The Union government is ready to talk to the riparian states and resolve the Mahadayi water sharing issue amicably,” Modi had said in his Gadak rally on May 5 in clear violation of the poll conduct rules, the Congress party said in the complaint.
The Congress has alleged that by making the statement, the PM misused his position with an intention to “gather or mobilise votes” for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and “intimidate and pressurise” voters, particularly in the Mahadayi region.
