#MeToo: Woman Alleges HR Dept At CocaCola India Shamed Her When She Tried To File A Sexual Harassment Complaint

After Indian women journalists spoke out against sexual harassment in the media industry, women working in the corporate sector have also come forward with allegations against their sexual harassers.

A woman took to Twitter to narrate her horrifying experience with Ashish Dhawan, now India Distribution Manager at Microsoft. She wrote that in 2009, she was a management trainee at beverage maker CocaCola India and had to report to Dhawan.

According to her account, one evening after work, Dhawan tried to force himself on her in a car. The woman was able to ‘plead and convince him to stop’ and get out the car. However, the next morning when she went to file a complaint, then HR vice president PR Ramana Murthy allegedly blamed and shamed her instead.

India’s #MeToo campaign is on a rage with several women finally speaking up against their harassers. Vikas Bahl, Sajid Khan, MJ Akbar, Suhel Seth, Subhash Ghai, Kailash Kher, Rajat Kapoor, Alok Nath are some of the powerful men who have been accused.
