Kapil Mishra, MLA, Calls For Genocide, Destruction Of Wombs
When Swara Bhaskar and others criticised him, he called them “Jihaadan”.
Karawal Nagar MLA Kapil Mishra suggested on Twitter that actor Swara Bhaskar, CPIM-ML member Kavita Krishnan and others were attempting to take him off the popular social networking site. Mishra, in the wake of the Pulwama attacks, had tweeted that a befitting response would entail carving out the womb that nurtures terror — “aatank ki kokh”. Bollywood actor and activist, Swara Bhaskar quoted the tweet, asking Twitter India to look into the violation of community standards. She wrote that the MLA’s tweet openly called for genocide.
@TwitterIndia @Twitter the last line of this tweet is a call to genocide. https://t.co/Rh1gwrDWK2

Responding to the same, Mishra tweeted back dubbing Bhaskar, as well as the other women who called out his misogyny, as jihaadan. He added that there should be no offences taken with the reference to the womb, as the same had happened in the 1946 Direct Action Day communal violence in Bengal, and since the 1990s, with the Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir.

In the evening of the attack, February 14, Mishra openly preached violence, mentioning that neither surgical strikes nor killing of soldiers would put an end to Islamic Terrorism. He said that the approach should be similar to that of Israel’s or the United States’.

He also gave the example of Sri Lanka’s military solution to the LTTE.
Bhaskar, in her condemnation of the elected representative, called him a pervert. She also asked him to not use the death of 40 soldiers as a pulpit for his hate speech. She added that Mishra regularly engages in rumour-mongering and wished him “get well soon.”
Get well soon! 🙏🏿 https://t.co/IJ8IbwB0ul

Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) spokesperson Kavita Krishnan too condemned the misogynist undertone of his tweets, as well as the blatant warmongering.
. @TwitterIndia @jack @Twitter this handle belongs to an elected member of the Delhi legislative assembly. His tweet says 'Not enough to kill 40-50 enemy soldiers to avenge ours, destroy the wombs that can give birth to terrorists'. This is a call for #genocide, inciting violence https://t.co/uOCcN3Tknl

Under much pressure Mishra finally provided a shoddy explanation, suggesting that by “the womb” he referred to Pakistan. He suggested that Pakistan had nurtured terrorists and thus, can be called the womb of terror.
The Pulwama attack has driven the nation into both grief and angst. Forty CRPF jawans lost their lives in the blast led by Jaish-e-Mohammed on Thursday, February 14.
