Hindutva Group Puts Up Banners Saying ‘Jumlebaazi Ka Naam Modi’; 3 Arrested
The banners had propped up all over Lucknow following BJP’s poor poll performance.
Following Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) defeat in the assembly elections in five states, hoardings calling for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be replaced with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had sprung up in Lucknow.
A case had been registered against Uttar Pradesh Navnirman Sena, the Hindutva group that put up the hoardings, and three people were arrested on December 13, Thursday. “Those arrested include Sumit Pasi from Unnao, Ikramuddin from Bahraich and Manish Agrawal from Lucknow. The computer which was used to print these billboards has been seized,” a Lucknow Police official told TOI.
The message in the center of the hoarding said, “Bring Yogi, Save the Country.” The hoardings pitted Narendra Modi against Yogi Adityanath with slogans stating, “Jumlebaazi ka naam Modi (Modi is the name of fake promises)” and “Hindutva ka brand Yogi (Yogi Adityanath is the brand of Hindutva)”. It was also written that a Dharm Sansad (Religious Parliament) would be organised on February 10, 2019.

UPNS’ chief Amit Jani, told Dainik Bhaskar that Modi had ‘betrayed’ the country in the name of Hindutva which led to the party losing in the five states. He also said that had Adityanath not campaigned, BJP would not have been able to win a single seat in these states.
Uttar Pradesh BJP spokesperson, Chandra Mohan, told The Telegraph, “This banner is a conspiracy against the BJP. The police have registered a case against Jani and would arrest him soon.” The hoardings were removed on Wednesday, December 12.
