Agitated over the decision, Dalits have called a nationwide protest, Bharat Bandh, similar to the one they held earlier on April 2 against the Supreme Court’s order related to the “dilution of certain provisions of the SC/ST Act”, The Times of India reported.
Dalit activist Ashok Bharti said, “The protest is meant to send out a message, that if the demands are not addressed, the community will give a befitting reply to the government in 2019 elections.”
