CJM Passes Order Directing Sudha Bharadwaj To Be Taken Home (Read Order)
Bharadwaj was taken into custody after police conducted a raid at her Faridabad house on Tuesday morning.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashok Kumar on Wednesday recalled an earlier order, which had granted transit remand of Sudha Bharadwaj to the police, and directed that she be kept at her home in Faridabad and produced again on August 30th.
After a prolonged midnight ordeal, sanity prevailed and the CJM wrote “It will be prudent to wait for the orders of the High Court transit remand issued earlier is recalled, Sudha Bharadwaj can go home, for now, till the 30th.”
Earlier, the Punjab and Haryana High Court order which granted the transit remand had also directed that Sudha Bharadwaj be kept under house arrest at her residence near Badarpur border. However, Bharadwaj’s advocate Vrinda Grover had written a letter underlining that the police had refused to reveal Bharadwaj’s location, and had not taken her to the residence as per court orders.
