Shivraj Organised Chaupal For Baiga Adivasis But They Were Not Allowed As They Didn’t Have VIP Pass; BJP Members Pushed Them Away
The Adivasis said the CM organised the event just to show he is working. The initiative is not for the benefit of the people, said one.
A recent chaupal organised by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to address the issues of Baiga Adivasis was condemned by the community as they were not allowed to attend it. Some were even pushed put by the officials, the Adivasis told GoNews. Only BJP members attended the chaupal.
The Baiga Adivasi community in Dindhori said they were informed about the chaupal organised for them. But when they came to the premises on Sunday they were told that they require a VIP pass to enter.
Sonaram Baiga told GoNews that when he went to the chaupal program he was denied entry because he didn’t have a VIP card. Moreover, when he requested entry he was pushed away by BJP members.
The Adivasis said the chief minister organised the event just to show that he is working. The initiative did not benefit anyone, one person said.
According to the GoNews report, Congress leader from Dindhori constituency, Omkar Markam was also denied entry. Markam told GoNews that “If no one except BJP members would be allowed then why call it an adivasi’s program.”
No media persons were allowed to enter, said the report.
Speculations were rife that if Baiga community’s issues were discussed in front of media, the chief minister would have come under strict scrutiny, said the report.
Baiga Adivasi community is considered one of the most backward communities in India.
