Waah, Yogiji Waah! One Police Officer Suspended, Another Transferred For Stopping RSS From Holding Shakha Near Mausoleum

SI Raj Kumar Yadav’s suspension means he will receive only half of his pay now and face an inquiry.

Lucknow: Five days after the police tried to stop an RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) shakha near a Sufi saint’s mausoleum in Agra, one official was suspended, while another was transferred, The Telegraph reported. The step was taken after local legislators discussed the matter with UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Agra city Superintendent of Police Anupam Singh was shifted to the anti-terrorist squad in Lucknow. Sub Inspector Raj Kumar Yadav, who was in charge of the Ekta police outpost of Tajganj police station was suspended on June 22. He will receive only half of his pay and face an inquiry now.

According to reports, Yadav is accused of misbehaving with RSS members and flinging the Sangh flag to the ground. He has denied these charges, police sources said. Singh’s fault was that he had sent Yadav to the spot and refused to take any action against him on the misbehaviour allegations initially. However, later the sub-inspector was attached to the police lines, which meant he had to report for work but had no duties.

A police officer told The Telegraph, “BJP legislators Yogendra Upadhyaya (Agra South) and Udaybhan Singh (Fatehpur Sikri) met the chief minister on June 21 and persuaded him to take action against both officers.”

The conflict

From mid-May, the Sangh had started organising a shakha every evening at a spot 25 metres from the mazar at Pawan Dham Colony in Tajganj locality.

“Some representatives of the shrine met Singh and other senior officers on June 18 and said they felt insecure because objectionable comments were being made against a particular community at the shakha,” the police officer said.

“They quoted a Sangh member as saying the mausoleum shouldn’t be there. The same day the police asked the shakha organisers not to gather there from the next day. The agitated Sangh members sat on a dharna near the Tajganj police station the same evening,” he added.
