Madhya Pradesh: Railway Line Construction Started In 2010; Deadline Missed Repeatedly

A total of ₹1,030 crore has been spent on this incomplete project to date.

Even after eight years, the third railway line between Habibganj and Bina is still under construction, Dainik Bhaskar reported on Friday. The deadline for this project was set for December 2013.

The project to construct 143.7 kilometres of the railway line between Habibganj-Bina was initiated in the year 2010, during the tenure of P.K. Aggarwal, the then Divisional Railway Manager (DRM).

Initially, ₹ 620 crores were allocated for the construction of the third railway line. However, ₹ 1,030 crores have been spent on this incomplete project to date.

The project has been taken over by three new General Managers (GMs) and four new DRMs, each setting a new deadline since 2010.

Considering the speed at which the constriction work is progressing, the residents of the area believe that it will not be completed until next year.
