“I could hear her scream while they (parents) beat her up and called me to make me hear all that,” a distraught Siddharth Bansal told NC24x7. Bansal, 25 is a Delhi-based lawyer. He claims that he is in a romantic relationship with Khagaria District and Sessions Judge Subhash Chandra Chaurasia’s daughter Yashaswini, 24.   • Uttar Pradesh: 14-Year-Old Girl Gang-Raped

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by three persons in a village here, police said today. The incident took place yesterday when she had gone to take water from a hand pump near her house, they said. The girl was taken to a house by the youths and raped at gunpoint. Gunmen fired at and injured the station master of a railway station near here and assaulted an RPF jawan in Bhagalpur district, police said today. The unarmed jawan, Manohar Lal Yadav, was attacked for trying to save an elderly couple from being looted at Katariya station, Superintendent of Police, Railway, Katihar, Dilip Kumar Mishra said. A farmers’ body along with the Congress party in Gujarat will hold a “referendum” among cultivators affected by the land acquisition for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project. The organisation further plans to submit views of farmers in Parliaments of India and Japan. The land acquisition for the project is facing opposition from farmers in Gujarat, with villagers not allowing the measurement survey to take place in many places. Read more here.

Nearly 17,000 grown trees would be chopped off for the redevelopment of central government accommodations in south Delhi, according to an official. The trees would be cut in various areas, including Nauroji Nagar, Netaji Nagar and Sarojini Nagar, an official with the Forest Department said on the condition of anonymity. Around 11,000 trees would be cut just in Sarojini Nagar, the official said. Read more here.

The family members and relatives of a minor girl whose body was found in a water tank after alleged rape today accused the police of shielding other accused involved in the case and demanded action against them. The girl aged around 16 years was allegedly raped on the evening of June 9 and her body was found inside a water tank near her house in Chava village the next day.
