Midway Into A Sermon On Women Empowerment, Sambit Patra Flees When Asked About MJ Akbar

Right after talking the talk on women empowerment, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Sambit Patra quietly walked away when asked to comment sexual harassment allegations levelled by over twenty women against his party minister MJ Akbar.

In a video that went viral on Tuesday, Patra can be heard uttering the usual rhetoric about women empowerment and thanking prime minister Narendra Modi for working towards the welfare of women.

Immediately after that, a reporter asked Patra about the allegations against union minister Akbar. “Mr Sambit, please say something. When you are talking about the women’s empowerment, you must also address Akbar issue.”

A visibly mortified Patra says, “Ho gaya” and starts walking towards his car waiting nearby. Patra shuts the door of his car and escapes the reporter’s questions.

Last week, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj was also seen avoiding questions about Akbar. Since Akbar has refused to resign as MOS external affairs, PM Modi and his government is facing severe scrutiny for not taking any action in the matter.
