14 Years Of BJP: Madhya Pradesh Residents Forced To Shift Houses Every Year Because Of Rain

Residents allege corruption.

In Madhya Pradesh’s Sardarpura district, many houses submerge in rainwater every year. This happens due to the illegal shops which block the drainage system of the area.

“All our beddings, television set, washing machine have turned into mere garbage now. We have shifted all other essential household materials to a nearby dharamshala. We are scared that along with the house material, we will also be forced to leave our houses soon,” Mukhyalal Prasad, a resident of the area told Dainik Bhaskar.

A few shops constructed above the drainage system have blocked the only runnel in the area.

“Corporation officers colluded with the shopkeepers and allowed illegal construction over the sewage. This is the only reason why the corporation staff is reluctant in taking any action,” commented Rajendra Vashisth, leader of opposition in Ujjain Municipal Corporation.

The troubled residents had lodged a complaint with the District Collector first on June 2, 2015, and later on June 15 and June 16, 2015. On 14 June 2017, the residents pleaded to the Corporation Commissioner again.

A complaint to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s helpline number was also submitted. An inquiry revealed that the helpline states the problem as resolved. However, the residents claim that no work has been done yet.
